Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Your kitchen needs a facelift, and there is no better way to do this than by updating the cabinets. But, you don’t need to replace them, you can use cabinet refacing and have the same effect, for less money, in less time.

What is the look you are after? You can achieve any look by refacing kitchen cabinets. Anywhere from an Antique finish to modern and sleek can be achieved through refinishing. You can replace some cabinet door altogether and replace them with glass doors to display some of your beautiful dishes.
Replacing cabinet and drawer hardware adds to the effect.

Once the cabinet refacing process is complete, which just takes a few days, you can further complement your kitchen facelift by adding lighting, backsplashes or flooring depending  on your budget and the look and feel you are trying to achieve.

The Benefits to Cabinet Refacing

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, February 13, 2013

You love your home, but your kitchen needs a facelift. New cabinets are out of the question, the cost is too prohibitive. There is another solution. Cabinet refacing is a popular alternative to replacement. Updating your kitchen by refacing the cabinets can be a very effective way of updating your kitchen.

What is cabinet refacing? This is replacing only the doors and drawer fronts and applying a matching wood veneer to the existing framework. Homeowners can save thousands of dollars by choosing kitchen cabinet refacing and you can achieve the look you are after.

There are also several benefits to choosing this option. Cabinet refacing is far more cost effective than replacement; replacing cabinets is very inconvenient and can keep you out of your kitchen for weeks where cabinet refacing can be done in 2 days; and finally, it will give your kitchen an entirely new look.

Keep Kitchen Remodeling Costs Down

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, February 06, 2013

A kitchen remodel is one of the more common home upgrades. Styles change, new technologies improve old appliances and your kitchen gets a lot of use.
For an inexpensive kitchen remodel you'll have questions to answer.

  1. How big is your budget?
  2. How much remodeling will your budget allow?
  3. How much (if any) of it will you do yourself?

Find out how much you can afford to spend. Then work within that budget. In fact, you probably should only plan on spending about 90% of your budget. Kitchen remodeling projects tend to uncover a surprise or two.

Once you have a budget number, decide how much remodeling you can fit within that budget.

There are a lot of less-expensive options available. You might want to refinish cabinet doors. Or if the underlying cabinets are sturdy and in good shape, cabinet refacing could be a good choice.

Make the little things count. People tend to notice things such as drawer pulls and handles. You might get more impact by spending an extra dollar on each of the 18 drawer pulls and handles instead of spending hundreds more on the cabinet doors.

Choose your contractor carefully. Get three bids on any work that a professional will do. And check contractors' references. Make sure they're bonded and insured. Agree in advance on how you'll be billed for unexpected problems that add to the labor.
