Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, October 18, 2011

We all know that a kitchen make-over is money well spent. If you need a kitchen face lift, think about replacing your countertops. New counters can help revitalize an older kitchen, or give a kitchen a new look and feel.

Many homeowners just are not interested in a whole kitchen remodel because of the disruption to daily life. The solution is granite countertops. Kenneth Lewis spends an average of 3-4 days in your home.

Kenneth C. Lewis can offer alternative solutions to your kitchen remodeling project. Your entire kitchen can get a new look just by replacing the counters. If it is storage space or surface area that you need, add a kitchen island.

Granite Countertops Finish First in Consumer Reports Testing

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, August 02, 2011

Countertop replacement is usually the best option when totally changing or remodeling your kitchen.

A beautiful countertop can really stand out in a kitchen. Consumer Reports tested 14 different countertop materials like granite and quartz, recycled glass, bamboo and soapstone. They applied things like tomato sauce and grape juice and let them sit overnight.

The bamboo surfaces stained badly.

They also tested the counters for heat, by placing a 400 degree pot on them: the bamboo counters scorched, and 2 recycled glass countertops cracked within 12 minutes.

When all the tests were done, quartz and granite countertops came out on top!

Kenneth C Lewis uses granite, corian, cambria quartz and other quality materials for replacing existing countertops.

Eye Catching Ideas for Kitchen Countertops

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Homeowners are moving away from tile countertops, which are difficult to maintain, in favor of natural stone, solid surfaces and environmentally friendly 'green' products.

Granite countertops are still the biggest thing out there, but less common materials like marble, limestone and soapstone are becoming more popular countertop choices.

These materials are much more durable than we have been led to believe especially with the advent of greatly improved sealers and a routine maintenance schedule.

For homeowners looking to jazz up their modern kitchens with bright, bold countertops, we suggest quartz.

Quartz counters may not be as durable as granite but it comes in colors not typically seen in natural stone, like lime green and electric blue. For those who may not appreciate stone's natural pigment variation, quartz offers consistent color from top to bottom and side to side.

Natural stone countertops that combine different textures are a new trend. For this look, installers use stone with two different finishes, one sandblasted to a matte finish, the other polished to a smooth gloss. Lindsay says that a typical application might be to use one finish for a kitchen island and the other for the rest of the kitchen countertops.

Wood adds a warmth and beauty to kitchens that no other material can match. So recently more homeowners have been opting for wood countertops over stone.

Another great kitchen island idea for homeowners is a beautiful butcher block island that you can actually cut on.
